Meet the Breeder

I was raised on a farm with cattle, pigs, ponies, rabbits, a bazillion cats, and our kennel/farm/ and family dogs. My dad was a grain and livestock farmer and my mom was a devoted farmer’s wife and small dog kennel owner of Norwegian Elkhounds and Samoyeds. My love for dogs, I believe, began the minute I was born. I can’t ever remember a time without dogs in my life, in the house, on the farm, or in the kennel. My favorite memory from our kennel days was when my mom had a large litter of samoyed puppies and it was bath day.  We washed them one by one in the kitchen sink with blue shampoo, turning their white fur blue! One by one we washed and dried them with a hair dryer, then placed their pretty white furred bodies on a bright pink towel on our kitchen table for a picture. I was in puppy paradise.

From an early age I desired to become a vet. As I grew up, music became important to me and I contemplated becoming a music teacher, which transformed into Preschool teacher, Kindergarten teacher and concluded as a Third Grade teacher. For 29 years I kept telling my husband that I was one day going to breed dogs. Which brings me to the present time. I’ve retired from teaching (which I loved for many years), to pursue a lifelong passion for breeding dogs.

Why Australian Shepherds?

Because the options are endless with them, from their beautiful colorings and patterns, to their abilities to excel as working dogs, conformation show dogs, frisbee, agility, therapy work dogs, or loyal and loving household pets.

Aussies are people dogs that thrive on human companionship. They are one of the most intelligent, trainable and versatile of all dog breeds. Aussies are a breed that requires plenty of daily physical and mental stimulation to be happy and content. If you are considering bringing an Australian Shepherd (Standard or Mini) into your home, it is important that you do your research first. You need to be able to provide the time, energy, and commitment, as well as plenty of space, for training and loving your Australian Shepherd.
